EFT – What is it?

Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT as it’s more commonly referred to. It is another form of energy healing. It‘s a mix of modern day psychology and the ancient form of acupuncture/acupressure.

​It’s often referred to as the Tapping Therapy because we use our fingertips to tap on certain acupuncture points on and around your face. Energy flows through our body and through pathways or tracks called Meridians (similar to our chakras). If there’s a blockage in any of these energy centres or pathways then disease/illness can occur and we won’t function as fully as we should. Acupressure can be used to release any blockages from the Meridians.

​We all know that our minds and bodies are connected. If we suffer a negative emotion then that can affect our body. For example if we are stressed it may cause raised blood pressure or an ulcer, suppressing our emotions may cause physical pain in our body or make us feel ill.

​Researchers have found that EFT is highly effective for phobias, depression, PTSD, anxiety, pain, anger and grief to name but a few.

How long does it take?

​EFT can have rapid results which can take the client by surprise. Sometimes just a couple of rounds of tapping, 5 minutes in total, can be enough to rid you of chronic pain that you’ve suffered for years! But sometimes that pain can be linked to something else, it’s not just a pain that suddenly appeared in your body, the pain may be linked to something psychological. Through EFT tapping we can find what that pain is linked to and then we tap on that issue until we reduce the intensity of that.

​Yes it all sounds very strange but it really does work!! A few years ago I went through a really low period. My anxiety was also sky high. I don’t believe in taking medication so my obvious course of action was something natural. I was shown how to do EFT tapping and I thought no way would it work!!! But I was proved so wrong! It really did help. I used it alongside Reiki.

​There’s so many stories from people who have been helped with EFT. People use it on a regular basis. If you looked around an aeroplane I’ll bet there’s someone there tapping to get their anxiety levels down! It can be done discreetly too.

So what can EFT help with?

It can help with virtually anything! From those listed above to Fibromyalgia, arthritis, memory, exam nerves, can hep aid weight loss, help you stop smoking/breaking habits. It can also help with relationships, work, money and spirituality.

It’s so easy to use and learn that young children can do it. Or you can use it on your child to help them with a problem.

I mainly use this alongside Hypnotherapy but can be used as a stand alone therapy.

EFT can also be done over Zoom or FaceTime. You don’t have to come to me in person if you’re unable to or if you don’t live locally to me.
