A little bit about me and hypnotherapy
I suffered with anxiety from my mid teens. This got worse after the very sudden passing of my mum while she was on holiday abroad. To cut a long story I was unable to go on holiday for many, many years. I believed I’d die or someone close to me would. Any time I went away, I could only manage 2 to 3 days. IBS also kicked in. I had counselling over the years, I’d also been prescribed antidepressants, I’d even tried hypnosis in the past. Nothing seemed to work. I believed that this was how my life was going to be. I’m still convinced I had undiagnosed PTSD.
I went on to study hypnosis myself in the hope I’d find something that would help me. It wasn’t until more recently that I found a post about a further hypnotherapy course that sounded very intriguing(or maybe the course found me?)I signed up to do the 6 month course and in my first week I met this guy who specialised in Trauma and anxiety and he offered to help me. After a 2 our session of hypnosis I felt this enormous weight lift from my shoulders. Within 2 hours of that appointment I had booked my first holiday abroad. I’ve not looked back since!

I take every opportunity to update my skills and learn new ways to help my clients through continuing professional development. I have just recently completed a further hypnotherapy course with one of the top hypnotherapists in the world – Freddy Jacquin.
Alongside hypnotherapy I also use EFT (emotional freedom technique) and I’ve just completed a course on IEMT (Integral Eye Movement Therapy).
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation. Clients are neither unconscious or fast asleep. Many clients experience time distortion when in trance and are surprised that what seemed like 5 mins of relaxation was in fact 30-50 mins. When in this trance state I am able to work with the right side of your brain (the sub-conscious). This is the brain’s database, where we store every event in our lives, experiences and behaviours. Through positive suggestion, ideas and incorporating other techniques that I’ve learnt over the years, I am able to effectively support you in change.
During the session some people find they drift off and begin to think about other things that have nothing to do with the problem being treated. They may feel they have wasted the session, however this is not the case. It is the conscious mind that was thinking about something else, whilst I will be attempting to communicate with the sub-conscious.
Have an open mind and be ready for change
For you to get the best out of the treatment, it is advised that you come with an open mind and commitment to change. I am then able to suggest ideas, concepts and lifestyle adaptations to you, which will be deeply embedded in your sub-conscious.
Many people come along to a session feeling apprehensive and think that I’ll have them clucking like a chicken or doing something embarrassing! This is not the case. That is stage hypnosis and is nothing like what I’ll be doing. I can of course get you doing these things if you ask me to!!
While people have different experiences, most find hypnotherapy very relaxing and pleasurable as they allow their sub-conscious mind to be guided and be more open to suggested changes in belief.
As a hypnotherapist, I can help guide you into this altered state of consciousness safely.
The best way to find out what it’s like is to experience it. It really isn’t anything to be afraid of. You are in full control of what happens throughout the whole session.
We all enter into a hypnotic state of mind on a daily basis without actually realising it (daydreaming, relaxation, listening to music etc). And while we’re in this state we’re more receptive to outside influences that can change the way we react to certain situations.
